Individual Psychotherapy and Consultation

Dr. Kaklauskas’ current practice focuses primarily on process, training, and consultation groups. He has limited space for ongoing individual psychotherapy and individual consultation, but please reach out to be put on a waiting list or to schedule services in a more limited way such as a series of consultation appointments.

Trainings, Presentations, and Speaking Engagements

Dr. Kaklauskas is available for training programs and consultation with organizations, as well as speaking engagements. He combines scholarship across a wide range of topics such as comparative psychoanalytic theory and techniques, Buddhism and psychology, pragmatic application of research findings, and existential humanistic traditions. He is particularly interested in assisting clinicians in finding one’s voice and identity as a therapist. Dr. Kaklauskas makes complex ideas accessible and easier to understand. He grounds challenging theoretical concepts in clinical examples drawn from his thirty years of experience. His presentation style combines the use of stories, audience interaction, humor, and a focus on the depth of emotions and the complexity of relationships. Attendees will often leave with pragmatic ideas for their own therapeutic style and clinical work.

Fees

Individual appointments, $250 per session

Process Groups are an opportunity to learn about one’s relational styles, reactions, motivations, and decision-making processes. Process groups are focused on individual growth and fulfillment. The goal of these groups may be summarized as moving towards the existential idea of the good life, self-understanding, relationship skills practice, understanding your impact on others, finding choices and taking effective action.

Training Groups combine personal growth with training in clinical theory, technique, and research. At times, the attendees reflect on the group dynamics in the here and now with an eye toward understanding the process both emotionally and clinically. In addition, these groups focus on clinical questions and dilemmas and the group can serve as more of a supervisory/consultation function.

Clinical Consultation Groups are focused on helping clinicians have rewarding and meaningful careers and clinical practices. Dr. Kaklauskas’ approach is transtheoretical, pragmatic, and supportive. In these groups, we work to study countertransferential reactions with a focus on providing effective and in-depth treatment to clients so that they can experience real change in their lives. The composition of these groups includes members with a variety of training and clinical experiences. These groups also sometimes discuss personal matters that are impacting one’s work, such as relational dilemmas and personal stressors.
